How-To Install a Base Return Cabinet and Infill

Base return cabinets are a good way to utilise extra storage space in a corner. An infill is used to fill the space between the side of the return cabinet, and the next cabinet along the other wall of the corner.

How-To Install a Base Return Cabinet and Infill

Place the return base cabinet and next cabinet in position

Measure the distance between the return cabinet and the next cabinet

Adjust the distance between the two cabinets until it is correct

Check the height of the two cabinets is level

a) Adjust feet heights until cabinets are perfectly aligned

b) Use a spirit level to check the level

Install the infill

The flush infill will be flush with the front of the door on the cabinet

a) Measure the gap between
b) Mark these measurements on the infill panel
c) Double check measurements
d) Cut to size and check that the infill fits within the space
e) Screw the support to the infill panel at even increments using 28mm screws
f) Remove the plastic coating. Note, not all products have this coating. If your product does not, skip this step
g) Align the infill, so that the support is flush with the carcass
h) Screw infill to cabinet from the inside of the second cabinet, into the support

Place screws to the front of the hinge plate, so that they will be hidden when the door is on.

Secure the infill to the base return cabinet

a) Measure the mid point of the infill on the end panel attached to the return unit
b) Measure and mark out this distance on the internal of the base return cabinet
c) Using 45mm screws, screw from the inside of the cabinet through to the infill attached to the other cabinet to secure in place

Once cabinets have been secured to each other, secure them to the wall
