How-To Install an Oven Microwave Tower & End Panels

To note before you start:

  • The oven mircowave tower is supplied in two parts – the oven / drawer cabinet, and the microwave cabinet
  • You will also need your top cabinet, to go above the microwave cabinet
1

Start with the oven cabinet

a) Remove the drawers from the cabinet

b) Lay the cabinet on its back to fix the adjustable feet

c) The cabinet will come with the base plate of the adjustable feet installed

d) Attach the adjustable part by slotting it into the base

e) Wind the feet to adjust them to the height of your kicker

2

Place the cabinet in position

The front of the carcase sits back 20mm from the front end of the end panel
3

Add your microwave cabinet

a) Firstly, remove the brown protective glides

Glides are on the top of the cabinet, and are used for transportation.

b) Secondly, slide the microwave cabinet on to the top of the oven cabinet, with the front of the microwave unit flush with the front of the end panel. This means the microwave unit will sit forward from the oven cabinet, allowing for the oven face to then sit flush.

c) Use the supplied brackets and screws to secure the oven and mircrowave cabinets together

The holes are pre-drilled in the oven unit, but not the microwave unit

4

Once the oven microwave unit is secured, add your top cabinet

a) Firstly, remove the door and shelf, and brown protective glides

b) Then place the cabinet on top of the microwave cabinet

c) The carcase will be set back 20mm from the front of the end panel, and the front of the microwave unit. This allows for the door of the cabinet to be flush.

d) Screw down through the base of the top cabinet, into the microwave cabinet, to secure the tower

Use a 3mm drill bit to drill pilot holes, then use 28mm screws to secure in place

5

Level the tower

Level vertically, at both the front and side

Adjust the feet if required

6

Double check the placement of the tower against the edge of the end panel. Only the microwave unit cabinet should be flush with the front of the end panel

7

Secure the tower to the end panel

a) Drill pilot holes through the inside of the cabinets

b) Using 28mm screws, screw from the inside of the cabinet through to the end panel, at both the back and front, to secure in place

c) If it is a door unit, position the front screws to the front of the hinge plate, so that they will be hidden when the door is on

8

Install the second end panel

If this end panel is next to more cabinets, the end panel will be shorter, to align with the bottom of the drawers of the oven/microwave unit. This allows the kicker to run continuously.

a) Hold or clamp the end panel in place

Tip: use spare feet to help hold the short end up to the right height

b) Secure the end panel front and back

Secure starting at the top, then bottom, then middle, both at the front and back

Use a 3mm drill bit to drill pilot holes through the side of the cabinet

Use 28mm screws to screw from the inside of the cabinet through to the end panel to secure in place

Ensure you use 28mm screws. A longer screw may pierce the visible side of the end panel.

9

Once cabinets have been secured to each other, secure them to the wall

How the cabinet is attached to the wall depends on the wall type.

Key Tips

  • Plan your electrical requirements before you start installing. You’ll need to cut a hole in the back of the microwave cabinet for a power cable to come through, to be mounted as a power point by your electrician on the inside of the cabinet.
  • A licenced electrician must be used to disconnect and reconnect, including mounting powerpoints, and installing safety requirements for ovens.
