How Much Does A Kitchen Cost?

News on July 19th, 2010 No Comments

diy-kitchen-cost

We recently did an exercise to design a couple of the more common kitchen styles and then work out what this design would cost you, the customer.

We’ve priced up the kitchen shown on the right in a 1mm Duro (Laminate finish) and also in a Thermo (PVC finish) Category 1 (simple routering)

We’ve added this as a permanent page on our site, so to see just how cheap a quality, custom-made kitchen can be click here

Looking for a cheap DIY kitchen?

Cheap Kitchens… You Bet!

News on March 15th, 2010 No Comments

cheap-adelaide-kitchenPeople often ask us “How much does a kitchen cost?”…  which is kinda like asking ”how long is a piece of string?”. With so many variables and materials, colours, finishes every kitchen is unique so therefore it can be very hard to put some definitive numbers on record.

Recently we thought we would do our best to try and answer this elusive and often asked question to give you a bit of a ballpark number. This will hopefully help you out when calculating costs and budgets. What we have below is a couple of statistics that will give you an indication of the costs. Please keep in mind that these costs include cabinetry, doors, panels, becnhtops, handles and delivery, but exclude appliances.

Highest sale price = $13066.50

Average kitchen sale price = $2806.09

*Based on data since U-Install-It Kitchens launch in July 2009

As you can see, a good quality cheap kitchen in Adelaide is very achievable! With 8 months worth of sales under our belt, we are pleased to report that around 3 grand will get you a stylish modern kitchen, that looks fantastic and is backed by the Farquhar name, with over 30 years  in kitchens.

Do It Yourself

Do It Yourself
Turn your kitchen from drab to fab in eight easy steps

Turn your budget-conscious kitchen upgrade into a success story that punches above its weight in terms of style.

You can give any kitchen a modern makeover that won’t cost the earth via a do-it-yourself model from U-Install-it Kitchens, a DIY brand manufactured by Farquhar Kitchens.

Darren Farquhar of Farquhar Kitchen Centre says: “I think reality television has re-educated the consumer’s way of thinking to I can do it myself.”

And it only takes eight steps to get a new kitchen.

Firstly, Darren says define your space. “Ask how you can use the space better and consider walkways, windows, location of water, electricity and waste pipes,” he says.

Next, inspire your space. Cut pictures out of magazines to help inspire your design ideas, taking note of  cupboard types, finishes and colours.

Step three is to measure up. “Measure twice, cut once is the principal rule of thumb here,” he says. Take into account the height and width of all walls, doors, windows, floor space, appliances and any furniture nearby.

Design your kitchen next “using the U-Install-It Kitchens catalogue to guide you through the selection of cabinets, individual pricing, accessories and layouts”. “If you’re still not sure if you have got it right, don’t worry as U-Install-It Kitchens staff will help you with ensuring it all comes together when you come to place your order,” says Darren. That’s step five.

Step six is to order the kitchen, followed by preparing your renovation area.

Finally, using your DIY skills and knowledge, it’s time to install the kitchen and complete plumbing and electrical work.

Darren says the U-Install-It Kitchen range can be ordered flat-packed or fully assembled at no extra charge. Colour ranges and finishes are extensive and cabinetry sizes are adjustable.

Make 2010 the year to renovate your kitchen

Welcome to 2010, Year of the DIY Kitchen

News on January 11th, 2010 No Comments

SummerWell, perhaps not “officially”, but we think it has a nice ring to it ;)

Welcome  back for another exciting year. I hope you managed to have a relaxing break and have been keeping cool this summer. I know some of our staff have had a busy start to the year with plenty of brand new U-Install-It customers placing orders to kick start the new year.

Just so you know, we’ll be adding some more before and after images to our gallery in the next week or two, so keep coming back to our site to check it out. The current images already show how easy it is to transform your old kitchen into a modern stylish kitchen.

Also in store for 2010 we’ll be looking at implementing an online ordering system. It’s very early days for this project, and will hopefully add an extra string to our bow, specifically our country-based customers.
Of course this service will be there simply to complement our fantastic and helpful staff. Follow this blog or signup to our mailing list for more information about this as it happens.

For now, stay cool and we look forward to seeing you soon.
